What would we do without great friends? I seriously have some of the smartest, most creative, loving friends around!
When my beautiful friend Rokia asked me if my Emma would like to be involved in a fun group project to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for MLK Day today, it was a no brainer – of course I said YES! We’ve read about this great man’s life, watched his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, and done other activities like these with the kids in years past, but nothing quite like this before!
She had the brilliant idea to record a group of friends of her family reading one line each from this poem. As you will see in the below video recording, these kids are located all over but the distance is no obstacle! Rokia found a way to bridge the gap and help these kids join hands from across the miles … and it’s a beautiful thing to see!
Martin Luther King Jr once said, “I have a dream that one day…little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.” Thank you Rokia for continuing his vision!!
A few simple edits and clever choice of clips to include and you can have a finished product as amazing as this one! This gave me chills to watch and we loved being a part of it 🙂 Emma had so much fun and was so inspired by the heart behind this project idea. I know she’s going to love watching and re-watching this video for many years to come!
Have you ever tried a big group project like this one? Let us know if you’re inspired to make your own version for MLK Day or any other holiday!
